Tattoo  Aftercare

Leave bandage on for two hours and do not remove no matter how badly you want to show it off. Once the two hours have elapsed, remove the bandage and do not re-bandage the tattoo.  This is an important step to start the healing process right and to help prevent infection when the skin is most sensitive.

Remove bandage after two hours and gently wash the tattoo with a mild antibacterial soap, cool water and a clean bare hand. Gently pat dry with a soft paper towel.

A dry and flaky layer of skin will form on the tattoo. After two to four days apply thin layers of Lubriderm Fragrance Free Skin Lotion or Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment.  You will apply lotion or aquaphor two to four times daily for the duration of the healing process as directed by your artist.  When this dry flaky layer sheds off completely on its own then you can use your normal, daily, lotions once again.  Continue to lotion daily for the rest of your life to keep your tattoo looking healthy and bright.

DO NOT ever pick or scratch at the tattoo. It is natural for a new tattoo to itch while it is in the healing process, however, scratching at a fresh tattoo could remove a scab or flaking skin prematurely. Doing this could seriously affect the look of your tattoo when it heals.

DO NOT tan or expose your tattoo to direct sunlight for a period of two weeks or until it is healed completely. This point cannot be stressed enough. Whenever in the sun, for the first two weeks, the tattoo must be covered by your clothing and NEVER a bandage.

DO NOT swim or use Jacuzzis for at least two weeks.  While it is necessary to shower and clean the tattoo daily, it should not be soaked in water for any periods of time as this could remove a scab prematurely and negatively affect the look of your tattoo.

If any signs of irritation or infection occur after receiving your tattoo, please contact Wolf Creek Tattoos or your physician to answer any question you may have regarding treatment you may need.

Failure to follow the above healing guidelines, can and will prevent your tattoo from looking the best and will void any warranties offered.  If you have any questions please contact us.
